Record Store Day (21/4/18): we take a look at some exclusive vinyl releases by UK women in music

On 21 April 2018 over 200 independent record stores in the UK will open their doors and come together to celebrate Record Store Day, supported by BBC Music. A number of special vinyl releases will come out on the day and many cities and shops are hosting exclusive shows and performances.

With such a wide range of options available there is no excuse to support your local independent record store.

Here are ten exclusive vinyl releases available from women in the UK music industry, just a few of the wide selection available. Listen to some of their music below.

The Hempolics – Riding For A Fall / Come As You Are (Shark Free Records)

An array of popular covers – reggae style.

Daughter – Music From Before The Storm (4AD)

The first physical release for Daughter’s soundtrack to the Life is Strange video game.

Kara Marni – Golden (Access Records)

Golden is 19-year-old Kara Marni’s debut physical release

The Eden House – Live and in Session (Jungle Records)

This release from goth/prog-rock group, The Eden House, includes exclusive live in the studio recordings from 2017.

June Tabor – Ashore (Vinyl180)

Folk singer June Tabor has been making music since 1979. She has previously collaborated with Maddy Prior and with the Oyster Band.

Rhi – Reverie + Jam City Remix (Tru Thoughts)

Producer, singer, songwriter and musician Rhi’s debut album is to be released on purple vinyl.

S.E.L – You Gotta Be / The Sweetest Pain (Quantize Recordings)

Soulful Emma Louise (S.E.L)’s latest single is a cover of Des’ree’s You Gotta Be, along with a recreated version of Dexter Wansel’s The Sweetest Pain.

Snatch – Snatch (Pandemonium)

Punk duo Patti Palladin and Judy Nylon recorded demons in Patti’s home studio between 1976 and 1978. This vinyl is cut from the original mastered analogue tape.

Wolf Alice – Don’t Delete The Kisses remix EP (Dirty Hit)

This 12” has never before released remixes of Wolf Alice’s’ single Don’t Delete The Kisses

Face + Heel – A Style of Lovin’ I:Cube Remix (WARM)

You’ll find new remixes by I:Cube, Tuff City Kids and Elliott Lion
