Earlier this month saw the AIM Music Awards 2018 winners announced. Out of the 16 winners awarded, seven identify as women which is a pretty impressive gender balance.
These were:
Independent Album Of The Year: Nadine Shah – Holiday Destination
Nadine was also recently nominated for the Mercury Prize.
Independent Track Of The Year: Peggy Gou – It Makes You Forget (Itgehane)
Best Sophomore Release: Let’s Eat Grandma – I’m All Ears
UK Breakthrough Of The Year: Jorja Smith
International Breakthrough Of The Year: Phoebe Bridgers
Outstanding Contribution To Music: Tracey Thorn
Innovator Award: Sophie
